Tips For Installing a Plastic Roof Over Corrugated Sheet Roof

  • Plastic roof corrugated sheets are used on a wide variety of projects including swimming pools, garages, and even roofs for homes. They are highly durable and lightweight making them the ideal choice for many different projects. You can even use plastic roof sheets on top of existing roofs to create a hot roof or even an insulated roof. The greatest benefit to using these materials is the amount of money that you will save on construction costs. If you are interested in using corrugated plastic roof sheets or other types of hot roofing systems, there are a few tips that you should keep in mind.

One of the most important things to do before you begin using plastic sheets is to prepare your site properly. This means that you should be sure that the ground is flat and clean. There should not be any grass or dirt on the area as this could cause your plastic roof sheets to become cracked or miss their mark. Also, the site should be free of any debris such as leaves, branches, or sticks. When you are preparing your site for plastic roof sheets, it is a good idea to have a tarp or cover to use around the area to prevent any water from getting inside.

When you finally decide to install your corrugated plastic sheet, you should be sure to stake your spot correctly. If you have a clay tile driveway or some sort of paved area, then you should place the plastic sheet on top of the clay. You will want to make sure that you get a good level of overlap on the plastic sheet, as you will need some space between the clay and the plastic. When you stake your spot, make sure that the clay is touching the center of the plastic sheet.

When you have the plastic coated corrugated roofing sheets placed in the right place, you will want to tape up the sides and the bottom of your roof. This helps the plastic sheet to dry faster and get down into place before it dries out too much. This step is important as if you do not tape it up, the sheet could move around and get into places where it will not stay put. After you tape up the sides and the bottom of the roof, you will want to start taping the top edge. This can be done with the corrugated part facing down and the sides and bottom turned up.

After this step, you will want to stick the corrugated plastic sheets on top of your clay roof. Make sure to overlap them enough so that they will be able to stick together. The last step would be to glue the top edge of your corrugated roof to the clay. Make sure to smooth out any bubbles that may appear. If you have any gaps in between the clay and the roof, you will need to fill in these spots with either epoxy or cement.

After you have applied all of these steps to your clay roof, you will want to wait two days before covering with the plastic coated corrugated roof sheets. This helps the plastic sheet to dry out completely before you use it. You should make sure to check on the state of your roof to see how well it is holding up. If you notice any discoloration, you may need to apply another layer of plastic roof sheets to help the color last through the rain and other natural wear.
