Why is variable area flow meter called Water Rotameter

  • Variable area flow meters, commonly called Water Rotameters, are a cost-effective solution for liquid and gas flow measurement. It is worth noting that no external power supply is required for operation. The meter can provide fail-safe flow in any situation.

The variable area flow meter is called Water Rotameter because the float rotates or rotates when the fluid passes through. The rotating float clearly shows that the fluid is flowing.

Variable area technology was invented in Germany more than 100 years ago. Today, variable area flowmeters can measure flow at a process pressure close to 20,000 psi/1350 bar and a process fluid temperature of 750 F/420 C. Although the technology is more than 100 years old, it is still respected and widely used.
