BMW iX3 Electric Crossover will be produced in China

  • It is expected that the first production samples will go off the assembly line in late summer 2020.

The press service of the German company BMW announced that the electric crossover BMW iX3 will be assembled in China. It is expected that the first copies will go off the assembly lines before the end of this summer, and buyers will receive their cars closer to the end of 2020. Note that this car will be the first under the main BMW brand. Previously, the German company produced electric cars only under the sub-brand BMW i.

Assembly will be carried out at a joint venture of BMW Brilliance Automotive in China. The modern platform allows the production of the BMW iX3 with all possible types of engines - gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid and fully electric. The new BMW eDrive electric propulsion system is innovative.

The engine, transmission and electronics block are combined in one unit. All this allows you to make the site easier and more compact than its predecessor.
Through the use of new batteries, the power reserve reaches 440 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. The BMW i4 and iNext models, which are set to debut in 2021, will also feature eDrive power plants.

The main goal of modernization will be to reduce the average cost of new cars.

The German company BMW may soon abandon some modifications of its large X5 and X7 cross-linkers. This became known on Wednesday, June 10, from one of the representatives of the brand's dealerships in Europe. As for the large X7 crossover, the xDrive 50i modification may disappear from the lineup. In this case, there will be only one option in the lineup with the V8 engine - the X7 M50i, while it will cost significantly less.

Some functionality will also change - in case of modification of the M50i, auction specialists will add heating to the steering wheel, all seats and the armrest, and the machine will also be able to provide keyless access. For the BMW X70 in the xDrive 40i modification, engineers added the ability to remotely start and a 48-volt starter-generator.

However, some of the options may disappear to reduce costs - this is primarily a special package for off-road driving, front seat ventilation functions, an entertainment center for rear passengers and a night vision system.

The BMW X5 crossover is not waiting for such major changes - the car will lose improved off-road options, a multimedia system on the second row of seats and a massage function for front passengers.

BMW also published the price for cars in the 2021 model year. For the BMW X5 sDrive 40i, dealers are asking for a minimum of $ 60,395 (4.15 million rubles). Other cars also added a bit in price - for the X5 xDrive 40i they are now asking for $ 500 more. In the case of the BMW X7, the price increase will be $ 200 for the M50i version and $ 1,000 for the xDrive 40i.
